Meet the Humans (and Animals) that make Alpine Vista Media 

We’re Kim and Liam, two corporate professionals who spend our weekdays in meetings and spreadsheets and every other moment trying to escape into the Alberta wilderness with our dogs, Mia and Tikka. They believe they run this operation, and honestly, they’re not wrong.

We live in Cochrane, Alberta, where the mountains are close, the weather is dramatic, and the dogs track in enough mud to qualify as a geological survey. Alpine Vista Media is our little corner of the internet where we share honest gear reviews, beginner-friendly and dog-friendly hiking insights, and real stories from the trail. If you’ve ever wondered whether a pack is actually comfortable or why your dog thinks mud is a lifestyle choice, you’re in the right place.

We’re not influencers who test gear by unboxing it and posing in the living room. We use our gear. We abuse our gear. We drag it through Kananaskis, Banff, the foothills, and the occasional surprise snowstorm in June. Every review is based on real-world use, our own money unless stated otherwise, and zero brand influence. If something sucks, we say so.

Our mission is simple: help everyday hikers and dog owners explore Alberta with confidence and have a few laughs along the way. The outdoors shouldn’t feel intimidating or elitist. You don’t need $2,000 worth of ultralight gear to enjoy nature. You just need curiosity, a decent pair of boots, and maybe a dog who refuses to walk around puddles.

Alpine Vista Media started the way many good ideas do: on a long hike, with questionable snacks, and a conversation that began with “We should really share this stuff somewhere.” We were already testing gear, troubleshooting trail issues, and giving advice to friends, so building a space where more people could benefit just made sense. Also, the dogs demanded more fans.

We’re based in Cochrane, Alberta, right on the doorstep of the Rockies. If you hear barking in the background, that’s just our creative directors offering feedback.
